Who Am I?
My name is Linda Novakovich. I have lived in Roseburg for 38 years. I
dabbled with art in High School and sketched some before that, but didn't
take it seriously until I went to work for the Bureau of Land Management
here in Roseburg in 1980. Several co-workers inspired me and I did some
work on my own with their encouragement. I practiced on saw blades and
miniature saws and canvas giving the work as gifts and selling a few here and
there. I took a drawing and acrylic class with Letha (Gipe) Mitchell at the Art
Mill.
In the early 1990s, one of my co-workers and I started taking lessons from
Niki (Lindner) McBride and I learned more of the techniques of acrylic painting
and began to grow as an artist.
I retired from BLM in January 2007 and the following week I was back in the
classroom at the Ye Olde Art Shoppe in Myrtle Creek with Letha. During the past
six years I have completed many paintings in both oil and acrylic. I enjoy
doing a variety of subjects such as: seascapes, landscapes, animals, portraits of
family members (especially grandchildren), sealife (whales and dolphens). I still have
a desire to take on new challenges such as pastels and colored pencil. I want to do more people, especially children at play.
I have shown my work at the Umpqua Valley Arts Association Gallery and at the Ye Olde Art Shoppe in Myrtle Creek. I've sold
many paintings to friends and probably give more as gifts than anything. They have been well received and the recipients
never fail to offer more encouragement for me to continue.
While some of the work on this site have been either sold or given away, there are some that are still available for sale. I hope you
enjoy looking at my work and if anything interests you, let me know. I also do commissions. The commissions are contingent on
whether the work meets your expectations.
